Photos of Architecture in Birmingham

Design Sheet

I have created Design Sheet for Urban Landscapes. I created this mood board to compare three different big cities - Birmingham, New York and London. Including my own photos. Also added my drawings and cutouts from magazines and newspapers to show different textuers and styles!

In my opinion this mood board shows a very clear messege and idea.

Imressionism

"The term 'Impressionist' was first used as an insult in response to an exhibition of new paintings in Paris in 1874. A diverse group of painters, rejected by the art establishment, defiantly set up their own exhibition. They included Monet, Renoir, Pissarro and Degas."

Impresionism:

E - everyday life - tried painting every day moments
L - light - wibrant and light colors mixed right on canvas
B - brush stroke - capturing movment
O - outdoor settings
W - weather and atmosphere

Work of Claude Monet:

In my opinion Impressionism has made a difference in history of art. Impressionism has shown that wonderful painting can also be with imperfect brush strokes still creating beautiful pieces of art.

Drawing Lessons

Skeleton drawing
In one of the first lessons of drawing we were trying to understand and draw human skeleton with a continuous line drawing. After first attempts we draw humans skeleton diagram to understand right proportions of a human body.

Portrait drawing
In our attempt to draw human portrait we had three models. Drawing first portrait I had to use graphite to show the darkest areas of the face and afterwards to complete the drawing I used pencil for more detailed areas. It`s very, very far from good, but still learning. For second portrait I used only pencil to make it look clear and accurate.
And for the third one I used the technique of continuous line drawing also with pencil.

Banksy

Banksy (Robin Gunningham) -  He is graffiti artist, political activist, film director, and painter. His satirical street art and dark humour with graffiti executed in a distinctive stencilling technique. Such artistic works of political and social commentary have been featured on streets, walls, and bridges of cities throughout the world. Known for his contempt for the government in labelling graffiti as vandalism, Banksy displays his art on publicly visible surfaces such as walls, even going as far as to build physical prop pieces. He expreses different methods of communication, but he is more known for his graffiti art. In my opinion Banksy makes a difference in young people political point of view. He makes them notice politics!

Tracey Emin

Tracey Emin (Born 1963) - is a Cypriot English artist. She is part of the group known as Britartists or YBAs (Young British Artists). Well-known for her confessional art, Tracey Emin reveals intimate details from her life to engage the viewer with her expressions of universal emotions.  Her ability to integrate her work and personal life enables Emin to establish an intimacy with the viewer.  In my opinion Tracey is very brave for being honest with a viewer. It takes courage to share your personal life with the whole world.

Blek Le Rat

Work of Blek Le Rat

Blek Le Rat (Born in 1951) - was one of the first graffiti artists in Paris, and has been described as the "Father of stencil graffiti". Prou began his artwork in 1981, painting stencils of rats on the walls of Paris streets. He described the rat as "the only free animal in the city", and one which "spreads the plague everywhere, just like street art" He uses graffiti art to express his thoughts and opinion!
